When thinking of bowls with a rim, one might picture a larger overall size, or more elaborate vessels where the body is understated and the rim takes center stage. In contrast, this bowl by Hamaoka-san features a compact and innovative shape, consisting of a straight, falling body and a clean rim. Despite its linear body, it offers ample capacity, and the inner surface has a gentle curve, preventing any snagging when scooping liquids. It's a joy to use, a vessel whose form feels inherently right, clearly born from a pursuit of usability.

Whether it's a hearty soup, a clear consommé, or a creamy potage, it has a reassuring stability that embraces them all. For fruits, no matter what you serve, the vibrant colors and fresh juiciness are beautifully highlighted.
There are two types of white: lustrous gloss and soft matte. The choice is yours. Serving fruit in the glossy bowl seems to enhance its juiciness, giving it a more substantial presence, while serving it in the matte bowl creates a chic impression. Creamy potage looks lovely in the glossy bowl, and lighter soups suit the matte. It would also be wonderful to have both and enjoy the different impressions they create.
