A "medium-sized plate" is used quite often in daily meals. Whether it's for a meal with rice, miso soup, and a main dish, or for Chinese dishes where you want to arrange several items like mapo tofu, chili shrimp, and spring rolls, having a medium-sized plate that's just right makes it much easier to balance the table setting.
This 18cm diameter plate from SyuRo is exactly that: a perfect medium-sized plate. It has a gentle curve towards the rim and a slight depth, making it suitable for serving saucy dishes like pot-au-feu, cabbage rolls, or oden. Perhaps because it's "stoneware," which has the feel of both pottery and porcelain, it seems to blend seamlessly with all kinds of cuisine, not just Japanese, Western, and Chinese, but also Italian and ethnic dishes.

The beauty of this plate is its versatility without being boring.
Placing a quickly stir-fried dish or small portions of prepared side dishes, the atmosphere changes considerably depending on how it's used and the color chosen. It's also lovely to use different colored plates for different people at the same table.

Sophisticated and stylish Greige.

When I first saw it, it was the greige that enchanted me with its sophistication. The official color is gray, but since no glaze is applied and the natural color of the clay is used, there is some individual variation, sometimes leaning more brown or sometimes having a stronger gray tone, so here it is referred to as greige. It has a clean and refined feel due to the unglazed, fired clay. It's a color that comes alive as a supporting act the moment food is served.
Blue is a glossy dark navy, like a shining stone. It tightens up the food and enhances it stylishly. It pairs wonderfully with ingredients of white, brown, yellow, and green, and its glossy glaze makes it easy to care for.
And then there's Ice White, so incredibly versatile that you'll want to serve everything on it. Because it's a slightly grayish white, it subtly enhances the background of your dishes.

For greige,
we recommend an oiling treatment.

The greige plate, with its individual variations in clay color and the slightly deeper hue it takes on with use, is meant to be enjoyed. However, fingerprints may become noticeable when using it, or color unevenness may appear from water droplets after washing.
If this concerns you, before use, take some neutral vegetable oil such as salad oil or taihaku sesame oil on a kitchen paper, lightly rub it in, and then quickly rinse with water. Then, it is recommended to gently blot away moisture with a low-lint cloth or paper.
Of course, you can use it without worrying, but if you do find it bothersome, this extra step will allow you to use it more comfortably.

Product features and things to note

• Please understand that there may be glaze irregularities, variations in shade, black spots, and bubble-like marks, and each piece has individual differences, so its appearance may differ from the images.
• Can be used in microwave, oven (up to 260°C), dishwasher, and freezer (down to -20°C).
• Even within the heat-resistant temperature range, sudden temperature changes can cause damage, so please be careful.
• Wash with a neutral detergent. Using abrasive sponges, metal scrubbers, or cleansers that could scratch the器 is a cause of damage.
