Edo Octagonal Cooking Chopsticks Daikokuya

When making omelets, frying tempura to a crisp, or arranging food... among the many cooking utensils, I believe cooking chopsticks significantly influence the smoothness and outcome of a dish. I've used chopsticks with non-slip grips, ones connected by a string to prevent separation, and even silicone ones, but I was looking for cooking chopsticks that I could manipulate more freely and without stress, that looked sleek and refined, and that would last a long time.
That's when I found these octagonal cooking chopsticks from Edo Kibashi Daikokuya. They are very plain, but that's what makes them good. They are carved from Maras, a heavy, hard, and highly durable wood, and they are ideal cooking chopsticks with no "I wish they were a little more like this" aspects. I believe these chopsticks faithfully respond whether you want to firmly grasp food or perform delicate tasks.

I mentioned they are plain cooking chopsticks, but upon closer inspection, the grip portion is carved into a soft octagon, almost round, and the tip, about 5-6cm, is square, giving them a unique shape. This exquisite gradation is achieved because each pair is carved and finished by hand by skilled craftsmen. The grip is easy to hold yet non-slip, and the tip, being not too thin, allows for a firm grasp. The 28cm length is a comfortable size for both men and women. Their beautiful shape also makes them suitable as serving chopsticks at the dining table.

Unfinished wood that deepens
in color over time.

When new, they have a fresh, light color, but because they are unfinished, they will gradually change to a deeper brown with use. The cooking chopsticks shown in the images may appear to have various shades, but they are all the same chopsticks, showing differences due to aging.
It's also a little fun to be able to tell the difference in pairs by their color when you get a new set of chopsticks. They have a wonderfully balanced shape and a reliable firmness, so please use them often and watch them develop over time.
